Offline-Simulation: „Screen“-Test of a programmed function or plant logics without a link to the hardware.
Online-Test: Test of the programmed functions or plant-logics with attached hardware attached and started runtime system.
OPC ("OLE for Process Control") is an industry standard defining a common communication interface in automation. OPC is based on OLE/COM/DCOM technology of Microsoft, Inc. The standard is widely accepted and allows HMI software and automation systems of different vendors to be connected and exchange data.
An OPC server is the link between these components, providing the data of automation systems to HMI systems or other OPC clients.
